Downtown Beaverton's Booverton Halloween celebration returns Sunday, Oct. 25, with free trick-or-treating at more than 70 businesses and vendor booths spread across three hubs.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout downtown, according to the Beaverton Downtown Association. Everything is free and family-friendly.

Three trick-or-treating hubs anchor the event: the 1st Street Dining Commons, Columbia Bank and The Round/City Hall. Kids can collect candy from participating businesses while families explore vendor booths at each hub.

A free Boo Bus, sponsored by Beaverton Toyota, loops through downtown with five stops. Those include the Library West Lot/City Park, Columbia Bank, Cottage Golf Studio, the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts and the 1st Street Dining Commons.

Beyond trick-or-treating, the BDA event page lists several free activities at downtown locations. Cottage Golf Studio offers mini golf for kids. Corazón Art Studio hosts free printmaking. Loyal Legion runs a pumpkin decorating contest with 30 pumpkins donated by The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island. The Book Corner gives away free books.

Live music plays all afternoon at the 1st Street Dining Commons. Mr. Nathan performs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by Kick the Bucket from 1 to 3 p.m.

Kids and adults can also try the Booverton Ghost Hunt, which sends participants searching for nine hidden ghosts throughout downtown. Each ghost carries a letter that helps solve a mystery riddle. Completed forms go to the Ghost Booth at The Round Amphitheater for a prize.

Adults 18 and older can enter the Booverton Passport Challenge. Participants collect stamps from 15 downtown businesses and six vendors each at the Columbia Bank and The Round hubs. Completed passports go to the BDA booth at the 1st Street Dining Commons by 3 p.m. for a chance to win a $25 gift card. No purchase is necessary.

The Halloween fun extends past 3 p.m. at Breakside Brewing, where a costume contest runs from 4 to 5 p.m. The BDA says the contest is hosted by Pluto the Bearded Drag Queen, with a dance party to follow.
