Bethany Elementary School landed at No. 10 among Oregon's 721 ranked public elementary schools in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings, scoring 98.75 out of 100.
The school, at 3305 N.W. 174th Ave., is the highest-ranked elementary with a Beaverton mailing address. Two other Beaverton School District (BSD) campuses placed even higher on the statewide list: Findley Elementary at No. 4 and Jacob Wismer Elementary at No. 8. Both carry Portland mailing addresses but serve families within the BSD boundary.
U.S. News released the rankings Oct. 20. The ratings draw on 2023-2024 state assessment data and evaluate student performance in math and reading alongside student demographics, according to the press release.
Bethany's numbers
Bethany's 413 students scored well above district and state averages. Eighty-two percent tested at or above proficiency in reading, and 74% hit that mark in math, according to the school's U.S. News profile.
Across the Beaverton School District, 56% of elementary students were proficient in reading and 50% in math. Statewide, those figures were 43% and 35%.
The school ranked No. 4 in Oregon for reading proficiency. Its student-teacher ratio is 18-to-1, with 22 full-time teachers and one full-time counselor. Principal Toni Rosenquist leads the school, according to the Oregon Department of Education report card.
BSD schools stand out
Findley Elementary, on N.W. Saltzman Road, earned a 99.58 out of 100. Its 549 students posted 82% math proficiency and 80% reading proficiency. Jacob Wismer Elementary, on N.W. Skycrest Parkway, scored 99.03 with 77% math proficiency and 81% reading proficiency among its 592 students.
All three BSD schools outperformed district and state averages in both subjects.
Eric Brooks, U.S. News director of education data analysis, said in the press release that the 2027 rankings "offer a richer, more complete picture of how elementary and middle schools are driving student growth."
BSD Superintendent Dr. Tony Smith, who began his role in July 2026, has not publicly commented on the rankings.
