Tammy Carpenter is running for Oregon House District 27 in the November 3, 2026 general election against Republican G. Mark Norman.

Carpenter’s campaign identifies her as a physician and Beaverton School Board member, elected to that board in 2023. She describes herself as a democratic socialist and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

On her own campaign platform page, Carpenter supports a statewide universal health plan, stronger tenant protections and fully funded schools. She says she would advocate for a single-payer healthcare system available to all Oregonians.

Her housing platform calls for a renters’ bill of rights, protections during evictions and longer notice before rent increases. She also supports investment in public transit and renewable energy and calls for a pause on further data-center expansion.

These are Carpenter’s published campaign positions. Previously included answers obtained through another news outlet have been removed. No submitted Surround Sound Media questionnaire response was available for this profile.
