Charleen Cook leaves her home in Lebanon, Oregon, at 4 a.m. five days a week to serve meals at Fir Grove Elementary School in Beaverton.

The Beaverton School District named Cook, a Nutrition Services Lead 1 at Fir Grove, one of its October BSD Achievers. The monthly program recognizes staff members chosen from nominations submitted by students, parents, staff and community members. Three honorees are selected each month.

Cook's nomination described a staffer who wakes at 3 a.m. to make the long drive from Lebanon on time and has kept up the routine for about four years.

"The kids here love her so much and are always asking for her," the nomination stated. "She has a good relationship with each student that comes through the line and they enjoy having her at the school."

The nominator called Cook "an amazing lead at Fir Grove" and expressed admiration that she continues the commute five days a week.

The names of the other two October honorees were not included in Cook's profile. The district said a video highlighting all three would be released later in the month.
