Experience and public service

Before joining the bench, Kamins built a legal career spanning nearly two decades in public service, private practice and academia.

She began as a judicial clerk for Judge Kim McLane Wardlaw on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2002 to 2003, according to her Oregon Voter's Pamphlet statement. She then worked as an associate at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP from 2004 to 2006, Kamins said in the same statement.

According to BallotReady, Kamins served as an assistant attorney general at the Oregon Department of Justice from 2006 to 2015. She then worked as an assistant county attorney at Multnomah County from 2015 to 2019, also according to BallotReady.

During that stretch, she also taught as an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark Law School from 2009 to 2019, according to BallotReady. She worked at the Portland law firm Markowitz Herbold PC from 2019 to 2020 before her appointment to the appeals court, according to the same source.

Kamins said in her voter's pamphlet statement that she served as president of the Federal Bar Association's Oregon Chapter in 2020.
