Beaverton's Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will pack a vinyl market and a jazz concert into one day on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The third annual Save the LP Record Show fills the Reser with more than 55 record vendors, according to the venue's event listing. Shoppers can dig through vinyl, CDs, 45s and cassette tapes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The whole day is structured like two sides of a record. Side A is the daytime market. Side B is a concert by L.A. vocalist and producer Jimetta Rose, who will perform her album "MettaSun," a tribute to cosmic jazz pioneer Sun Ra. Portland-based The Cosmic Tones Research Trio will join Rose on stage.

KMHD Jazz Radio, the member-supported station, co-presents the evening concert. Meg Samples, KMHD's general manager, highlighted the event during a November segment on OPB's "Think Out Loud".

This year's event is dedicated to KMHD and to honoring what organizers call "Jazz Without Boundaries," according to the Reser's listing.

Who is Jimetta Rose?

Rose's "MettaSun" reimagines some of Sun Ra's most recognized recordings through what the Reser describes as "a powerful expression of the female imaginary and a positive vision of radical hope and Black joy …"

The album pays homage to June Tyson, the singular voice of Sun Ra's Arkestra.

According to Rose's website, the late DJ and producer Ras G once told Rose her artistic future resembled Tyson's, planting the seed for the project.

Rose spent the past seven years leading Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation, a choir-centered project, according to her site.

"MettaSun" marks her return as a solo artist.
