Four vendors are selling apples, cider and fruit beverages at the Beaverton Farmers Market each Saturday through Nov. 21.
The vendors include Pro Farm Orchards, which sells certified organic apples; Kiyokawa Family Orchards; Stone Circle Cider; and Green Eats Wenatchee, which sells fruit beverages made from apples grown by the family's Wenatchee Valley operation, according to the Beaverton Resource Guide.
Green Eats Wenatchee's family has grown fruit in the valley since 1988 and organic apples since 1999.
Kiyokawa Family Orchards brings the deepest roots. Randy Kiyokawa, a third-generation orchardist, runs the family's operation near Parkdale in the Hood River Valley.
His grandfather began farming there in 1911, according to Oregon Taste. The orchard grows more than 150 varieties of fruit, according to SAIF, including 125 types of apples. The Beaverton Resource Guide noted that Kiyokawa staff help shoppers match an apple to their taste.
Stone Circle Cider, based in Estacada, rounds out the apple lineup. Co-founder Dan Lawrence spent five months training with cider makers in Southwest England before launching the business, according to the company's website.
Early-season apples tend to be crisp and tart. Later varieties grow sweeter as fall progresses, the Resource Guide noted.
Shoppers may find Sunrise, described as tart and crisp, along with sweeter options like Honeycrisp and Gala.
The market, founded in 1988, is open Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 12375 SW 5th St., across from the Beaverton City Library. During summer, it draws between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors on a typical Saturday, according to Built Oregon.
Upcoming special events at the market include Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 5, and Beaverton Parade Day on Saturday, Sept. 12, according to the market's event calendar.
