Ginger Rapport and Sue Poff, the duo who built the Beaverton Farmers Market into one of Oregon's largest all-agricultural markets, are stepping down after more than 30 seasons. Their last day is Tuesday, September 1.

Long-time staff member Erika Quiggins will take over as co-market manager that same day, according to the Beaverton Resource Guide, which announced the transition on Friday, July 31.

The market is throwing a public farewell on Saturday, August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at its usual location on SW Hall Blvd between 3rd and 5th streets, across from the Beaverton City Library.

Visitors can sign memory books at the information booth, grab treats throughout the morning, and catch special announcements at 11 a.m. near the entertainment area. A closing bell parade wraps the celebration at 1:30 p.m. Live music from Orchard Drive, playing popular songs from the 1960s and '70s, fills the schedule, according to the market's event calendar.

Three decades of growth

Rapport started managing the market in 1996, two years after she moved to Oregon from Southern California. She spotted the job listing through a friend and brought a background in ornamental horticulture and restaurant work to a market that was still finding its footing.

Under Rapport and Poff's watch, the Saturday market grew to draw between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors on a typical summer weekend, according to the market's website. The market was founded in 1988 by the Central Beaverton Neighborhood Association with just $2,000 in seed money from the city and a handful of vendors. By its second year it had outgrown the neighborhood association and formed its own board.

What comes next

Quiggins, described by the market as a long-time staff member mentored by Rapport, is already listed alongside Rapport as market manager on the organization's website. The Beaverton Resource Guide described Quiggins as passionate about seasonal food and community-building.

The market's 2026 summer season continues every Saturday through November 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Residents who want to thank Rapport and Poff in person can do so at the August 29 celebration.
