Beaverton residents and business owners along SW Millikan Way will get their first chance to weigh in on the $8.5 million road reconstruction project at two public sessions in September. Construction bidding could begin as soon as November.
The city plans to rebuild SW Millikan Way between SW Watson Avenue and SW Hall Boulevard as a "complete street" giving priority to pedestrians, cyclists and transit riders, according to city planning documents. The corridor runs through downtown Beaverton, past City Hall itself.
When and where
A virtual session is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join details will be posted the day before on the city's Building Improvement Program homepage.
An in-person session follows on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Beaverton City Hall, first floor, Council Chambers, 12725 SW Millikan Way.
What the project changes
City Council directed staff to develop a plan that would shrink the project's footprint and avoid any involuntary business relocations along the corridor, according to a December 2025 BURA Area Update. A project team including Community Development and Public Works staff, along with Millikan property and business owners, developed a revised Complete Street Concept Plan through work sessions from December 2024 through March 2025.
Council discussed the concept plan at a May 27, 2025, work session and adopted it by consent agenda on June 17, 2025. Design work began that September.
The project is funded through Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program. Right-of-way acquisition was scheduled to begin in April 2026, according to an April 2026 BURA update. Bidding is targeted for November or December, with construction expected to start in spring 2027.
Broader vision
The funded phase covers only the Watson-to-Hall segment. The broader SW Millikan Way Extension Project envisions eventually realigning and rebuilding the road from Watson all the way to SW Lombard Avenue, according to the city's project page.
The city says community engagement will focus mainly on adjacent property and business owners, with the project team working to stage construction and write contract provisions that reduce disruption.
