A 29-year-old Beaverton man faces reckless driving and menacing charges after police say he chased another driver for more than a mile through south Beaverton, at one point driving in reverse while pursuing the couple's vehicle.

Arman K. Hastings was arrested July 26, after officers responded to the incident at approximately 7:25 a.m., according to the Beaverton Police Department, KGW reported.

The department said Hastings drove into oncoming lanes of traffic, intentionally cut off the victim's vehicle, and drove in reverse for more than a mile while continuing to pursue the victim following a road rage confrontation.

The victim, who was driving with his wife, told police that Hastings repeatedly reached toward his coat in a way that made the victim believe he was reaching for a firearm.

Fearing for their safety, the couple drove directly to the Beaverton Police Department instead of stopping.

Officers found Hastings nearby. He was taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, police found a black airsoft handgun in Hastings' jacket pocket.

Hastings was booked at the Washington County Jail on charges of reckless driving and menacing.

As of Tuesday, July 28, jail records showed he remained in custody. A court appearance was scheduled for Thursday, July 30, at 9 a.m.

Dash cam footage released

The incident was captured on the victim's front-facing dash camera and rear-facing camera. The Beaverton Police Department released portions of that video on its Instagram page, along with audio of the victim's 911 call, KATU reported.

The footage shows Hastings driving into oncoming traffic, cutting off the victim's vehicle, and driving in reverse while following the couple.
