Beaverton High outfielder Chase Austin has committed to Oregon State University, giving the Beavers a Division I baseball recruit heading into his senior season.
Teammate Landon Wight, also an outfielder, has committed to Lane Community College in the Northwest Athletic Conference. Both players appear in Prep Baseball Report's Oregon Commitment Tracker, updated Sept. 9 by Phil Roe.
Austin enters the 2026-27 school year with three consecutive seasons of All-Metro League recognition. As a junior in the spring 2025-26 season, he was named Metro League Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-Metro honors as both an outfielder and a pitcher, according to Beaverton High's league awards page.
He made First Team All-Metro as an outfielder in each of his first two high school seasons as well, earning Honorable Mention as a pitcher both years.
Wight earned Honorable Mention All-Metro as an outfielder in the spring 2025-26 season after making Second Team All-Metro as a sophomore.
He was also Second Team All-Metro as a sophomore outfielder in 2024-25.
Head coach Abino Vazquez won Metro League Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season, the same year Austin took Pitcher of the Year honors. The two college commitments add to a spring in which the program collected multiple individual awards.
Austin joins an Oregon State 2027 recruiting class that included at least seven commitments as of August 2026, OregonLive reported.
The Prep Baseball Report tracker lists several other Oregon high schoolers headed to Corvallis in that class, including South Salem's Harrison Buckingham.
Wight will head to Lane CC in Eugene, joining Clackamas outfielder Jonah Lam among NWAC commits on the tracker.
The tracker also lists Sunset High catcher Riley Via among Metro League players with 2027 commitments. Via is pledged to Saint Martin's University, a Division II program. Other Metro League-area commits include Sherwood's Manny Ehinger, headed to Arizona, and Clackamas' Cade King, committed to the University of Washington.
Austin and Wight will play their final high school season at Beaverton High's new $253 million campus, which opened for the 2026-27 school year in late August. No official schedule for the 2027 spring baseball season has been released.
