Local artists and creatives will gather at First Street Commons on Friday, Aug. 14 for a free evening of live music, chalk art, and networking. It marks the first time this season that Tualatin Valley Creates has brought its monthly Creative Mingle series to downtown Beaverton.

The event, co-hosted by the Beaverton Downtown Association and sponsored by the Regional Arts and Culture Council, runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at SW Washington Avenue and SW 1st Street.

An Artist Pop-Up Market opens earlier at 4 p.m. and stays open until 8 p.m., with local artists showcasing and selling handcrafted work.

Bill Hernandez, a musician and Tualatin Valley Creates board member, will perform live. A chalk artist from TVC's Pastelli Pop-Ups program will transform the pavement into large-scale artwork between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., with visitors able to watch the process unfold and talk with the artist.

At each Creative Mingle, attendees introduce themselves, share current projects, and swap creative interests in a networking round that opens the evening. According to the event listing from the Beaverton Downtown Association, the mingle is open to all creatives, community members, and anyone interested in connecting their business with the local arts scene.

Tualatin Valley Creates, originally founded in 1999 as the Westside Cultural Alliance, serves as Washington County's arts service nonprofit across 15 cities and unincorporated areas. Its Pastelli Pop-Up chalk art program has appeared at several events this season, including Ten Tiny Dances at The Round Amphitheater on July 11, Beaverton Pride on June 28, and the June Creative Mingle in Tualatin on June 12.
