A 30-year-old Hillsboro man will spend more than eight years in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman he was in a relationship with, threatening her with a knife, and stealing her car.
Washington County Circuit Court Judge Hafez Daraee sentenced Jaycob Patrick Holten to 100 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Holten pleaded guilty to second-degree assault constituting domestic violence, fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.
The charges stem from an incident last November in Tigard. Holten physically assaulted the victim, took her vehicle without permission, and threatened her with a knife, the DA's office said.
The victim's roommate intervened, allowing her to escape. Her injuries required surgery.
Arrest in Tigard
When Tigard Police responded and spoke with the victim, they learned Holten was already wanted on a felony warrant tied to a separate domestic violence case.
Investigators then received information that Holten was at his mother's house in Tigard and was possibly armed with a gun.
That triggered a large law enforcement response.
Members of the Tigard Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office's Tactical Negotiations Team responded to the home. Holten agreed to exit peacefully when officers made contact.
Prior record
Court records show Holten pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and strangulation in 2017.
Deputy District Attorney Katherine Miller prosecuted the case.
The investigation was handled by Tigard Police detectives with assistance from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
