More than 20 Beaverton restaurants earned perfect health inspection scores in early August, according to results the Valley Times first reported Thursday, Sept. 3.

Washington County's Public Health Department conducts unannounced, semiannual inspections of food-service establishments. Each restaurant receives a sanitation score out of 100, with deductions for violations. A score of 70 is required to pass.

Roxy's Island Grill at 20159 S.W. Tualatin Valley Highway, Giovanni's Restaurant at 12390 S.W. Broadway St. and Breakside Brewery at 12675 S.W. First St. all scored 100. They were joined by Sazanami, bb.q Chicken, Bingsudang, Tous Les Jours Bakery Cafe, Chimcking, Wingstop, Best Baguette West, the Whabii 2 food cart and several chain locations along Cedar Hills Boulevard.

Two Aloha restaurants scored below 85, though both passed. Esan Thai at 1275 N.W. 185th Ave. received an 83 after inspectors found raw sausage stored above shellfish and a can opener with debris buildup, among other issues. Donut Day at 18955 S.W. Tualatin Valley Highway scored 84, with violations including a "large flying pest" in the prep area and a cooler not holding proper temperature. Both restaurants corrected violations on site during the inspection.

Four Aloha spots earned perfect marks: Mio Sushi, McDonald's, Popeyes and Stir Crazy Kitchen.
