Beaverton's two newest photo enforcement cameras have issued 607 citations in their first three weeks on TV Highway, with one driver clocked at 98 mph.
The cameras, installed at Tualatin Valley Highway and SW Millikan Way / SW 160th Avenue, began testing July 6 but didn't start issuing tickets until July 13, according to Beaverton Police Sgt. Chester Lamb. Between July 13 and Aug. 3, the cameras were activated 827 times. After review by a photo enforcement officer, 607 of those activations resulted in citations mailed to drivers.
"So far, 98 mph has been the highest speed the cameras have captured," Lamb told the Beaverton Valley Times.
The cameras monitor only eastbound and westbound traffic along TV Highway. For red-light violations, a citation can only be issued if a motorist crosses the first line of the painted crosswalk after the signal turns red, according to the Beaverton Police Department.
Six cameras now active citywide
The TV Highway addition brings Beaverton's total photo enforcement network to six cameras. The four existing locations are:
- SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway at SW Griffith Drive
- SW Walker Road at SW Cedar Hills Boulevard
- SW Scholls Ferry Road at SW Hall Boulevard
- SW Allen Boulevard at SW Lombard Avenue

Cameras projected to bring in $1.3 million
The new cameras were included in Beaverton's fiscal year 2026-27 budget as a revenue measure, projected to generate $1.3 million in fines. The city entered the current budget cycle facing a $16.2 million General Fund deficit.
Sherwood seeing similar numbers
Beaverton isn't alone in expanding photo enforcement. Nearby Sherwood placed two mobile cameras along SW Oregon Street in May and began issuing citations June 22. Sherwood's cameras detected roughly 3,000 speeders in their first three weeks of monitoring.
