Beaverton High School senior captains Kate Parker and Abby Rice both earned nominations for OregonLive's Oregon Girls Soccer Player of the Week after a two-game stretch that showcased both ends of the Beavers' lineup.

Forward Kate Parker scored the lone goal in Beaverton's 1-0 win over Sunset on Monday, Oct. 5, then added two goals in a 3-2 loss at Westview on Thursday, Oct. 8. Defender Abby Rice drew her nomination for anchoring Beaverton's back line across both games. Third-year head coach Chelsey Evans told OregonLive that Rice is the heart of the Beavers' defensive line, winning balls in the air and never backing from a challenge.

Three goals in two games. That output from Parker is notable for a Beaverton squad still finding its footing after graduating 11 players from last year's team. That 2025 group won 15 games, finished second in the Metro League and reached the state semifinals before falling to eventual champion Jesuit, according to a Beaverton Valley Times preseason preview.

Parker, a returning all-league forward, and Rice, a senior defender, are both captains on the rebuilt roster. Evans praised the pair's leadership before the season started. "I don't know what is in the water here, but senior leadership is no joke," she said in an Aug. 30 interview with the Valley Times. "These girls are incredible. They set the tone from the get-go but do so in a way that is respectful, received well by their peers and is taken seriously."

The Westview loss kept Beaverton at 4-6-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, per MaxPreps. The dual nomination signals that the program's senior core is producing at a high level even in a rebuilding year.

Online voting in the OregonLive poll closes Sunday, Oct. 18, at 11:59 p.m., with the winner to be announced Monday, Oct. 19.

Beaverton returns to Metro League action Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Jesuit, then travels to Southridge on Monday, Oct. 19, before hosting Mountainside on Thursday, Oct. 22.
