Pixar's "Hoppers," the animated hit set in a town called Beaverton, will screen free outdoors at the Washington County Fair on July 28.
The 10-day fair at Westside Commons in Hillsboro runs July 24 through August 2, with free admission every day.
For Beaverton residents, the screening adds a personal twist. The PG-rated film follows a 19-year-old Beaverton University student whose consciousness is transferred into a robotic beaver to fight a mayor's highway project. Voice actors Bobby Moynihan and Piper Curda visited Beaverton City Hall on March 5, where Mayor Lacey Beaty proclaimed "Hoppers Day."
The film earned $164.7 million globally and holds a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score.
Movie night begins at 8 p.m. July 28 at the Main Stage. A screening of "Tangled" precedes it at 8 p.m. Monday, July 27.
Every night features a free Main Stage concert. Highlights include country act Sawyer Brown on opening night Friday, July 24; ABBA tribute act Band After Midnight on Thursday, July 30; and Queen Nation on Saturday, August 1. The Oasis Stage adds smaller acts spanning country, folk, blues and instrumentals throughout the run.
Butler Amusement is bringing 32 rides, including the Zipper, Ferris wheels, Area 51 and a Super Slide. One-day unlimited wristbands cost $36 on weekdays and $41 on weekends, sold at self-serve kiosks.
Washington County 4-H, FFA and open class livestock shows run July 24–26, with awards on August 2. Specialty acts making appearances include All-Star Stunt Dogs (a fair debut), The Flying Royals trapeze show, Brad's World Reptiles and Nomad Axe Throwing.
Westside Commons is at 801 N.E. 34th Ave., Hillsboro. Weekday hours are 5 p.m. to midnight; weekends open at 10 a.m. Parking is free Monday through Thursday, July 27–30.
