Beaverton's Arts Commission meets Wednesday, Oct. 14, to discuss new mural submission guidelines and whether to add QR codes to the city's public artwork.

The in-person meeting runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 12725 SW Millikan Way, according to the commission's agenda.

Four art topics are on the agenda.

Commissioner N. Gundry will lead discussion on adding QR codes to public artwork so visitors can access interpretation and background on each piece. Gundry will also share reflections on the Art by Bike event, a community bicycle tour of Beaverton's public art collection held Aug. 23 in partnership with Ride Westside and the city's Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Commissioner S. Somanchi will present on the Beaverton Welcome Sign, a project that went before the city's Public Art Committee for approval on Sept. 4.

Vice Chair Carolina Zeleski will lead the conversation on mural submission guidelines. The commission's Public Art Committee serves as an approver for the city's Street Mural Program, which opened applications in late 2025.

Commissioner Ryan Hendricks will lead a bylaws discussion. The city has been reviewing bylaws for 11 boards and commissions under legal consultation. Initial proposals on alternates and term limits were expected by September, according to the commission's May meeting minutes.

Arts Program Manager Michelle Tan will deliver a budget update. At the commission's June meeting, members learned that budget cuts would affect arts programs, though specific reductions had not been determined.

Councilor Nadia Hasan is scheduled to provide council updates at 6:10 p.m.
