Two Spirit Halloween stores are already open in Beaverton, filling empty big-box spaces that have sat dark since their previous tenants closed.

The seasonal retailer moved into the former JoAnn Fabrics at 11693 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway in Beaverton Town Square, next to FedEx Office, and the former Eagle Bargain Outlet at 14625 SW Allen Blvd, across the intersection from Safeway.

Both opened July 28, according to Spirit Halloween's store locator pages for the Beaverton Hillsdale and Allen Blvd locations.

The openings are part of a 25-store Oregon footprint this year, The Oregonian reported Aug. 26.

Reporter Veronica Nocera noted the chain has moved into storefronts formerly occupied by Rite Aid, JoAnn Fabrics, Big Lots, American Freight, Rife's Home Furniture, Eagle Bargain Outlet and Rue 21 locations statewide.

The company operates more than 1,500 pop-up stores across the United States and Canada each year, making it the largest Halloween retailer in North America. Its business model depends on scouting recently vacated retail spaces and occupying them on short-term leases each fall.

For Beaverton, the two locations signal continued commercial vacancy along major corridors. The Allen Blvd property sits on a 3-acre lot and remains listed on LoopNet, suggesting the seasonal tenant is a placeholder rather than a long-term fix.

As we reported Tuesday, the majority of Oregon's shuttered Rite Aid storefronts still lack permanent tenants, and two Salem-area former Rite Aids are also hosting Spirit Halloween pop-ups this season.

Both Beaverton stores keep the same hours: Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The stores will close shortly after Oct. 31.
